About Barfield

I was raised in Oklahoma and influenced by the musical roots of Jimmy Rogers, Willie Dixon and Hank Williams while The Beatles literally overwhelmed me. - In the late 60’s I spent my late teenage years breaking the rules with Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin and CCR. (It was a pleasurable past time) - Later, my originality & musical skills were polished among seasoned studio musicians and showcase acts in and around Venice Beach, California. These experiences bore songs of uncontrolled emotion, reckless politics and wisdom stolen from the fields and streets of America.

My experiences & influences have helped to create songs of uncontrolled emotion, reckless politics and wisdom stolen from the fields and streets of America. My songs are stylized with Beatlelistic melodies, raw rhythms, whispers of passion and screams of political overtones. Quite simply, these songs are designed to invoke an emotional response.

Barfield Concepts

A concept is a matter of interpretation of ones thoughts and beliefs. Mine are probably just as complicated as your’s but not all of our conceptual thoughts are know to us. Basically, my concept in music deals with interpreting what I’ve experienced either personally or as witness to others experiences and then giving it back in such a way that it is mirrored in our hearts and soul. For instance, love as I see it, is warm and cold at the same time. When in lust for a new love, the joy and feelings of uncontrollable need is like a cup of warm broth that’s never full yet always being filled. An old foundational love is inescapable while nursing the need to run and find the lust again. Even the touch of holding hands warms the heart. And of course there’s the pain of betrayal which is likened to a quickened heart when afraid for your life. This can be shared with others in such a way that they too can feel excitement or pain from just listening to the melody and lyrics of a song. Our tears come from laughter, sadness and overwhelming anger. They are a sign of who we are.

In this age (the last millennium), war and strife is primarily caused by religion, wealth & love. With the exception of love, no other species known to us besides humans, chooses to do this.
